Daily Health Measures to Protect Against the Coronavirus (COVID19)

  1. Sleep: take this time of limited social interaction to aim for a solid 8 hours per night (to keep immune systems as strong as possible & allowing ample restoration time).

  2. Hydration: aim to drink half of your body weight (in pounds) in ounces per day for detoxification, elimination, flushing out of bacteria & viruses etc. Clean, filtered water is very important. Add lemon to your water to aid in detox, incorporate herbal teas, kombucha, vegetable juices etc.

  3. Fresh air & sunlight: take advantage of the extra time & spring weather and aim to walk/hike outside in nature every day…also a great way to keep our spirits elevated:).

  4. Exercise: to keep our immune systems strong, our inflammation under control and our happy hormones elevated. Hiking/exercising outside is a great option, also exercising in the home where possible (avoiding gyms)…

  5. Virtual social connection: positive relationships are one of our major ‘primary foods’. Take advantage of this age of technology and keep in touch with family & friends via zoom, face-time, what’s app, by phone etc.

  6. Nutrition: As much fresh produce as possible is key to keeping our immune systems robust and inflammation down, so try to incorporate some fruit and vegetables with every meal. Healthy protein from fish, eggs, wild/organic meats & such vegan sources as legumes, nuts & seeds, protein powders and certain vegetables & sea vegetables are critical for efficient detoxification and immune support. Beneficial fats from such foods as avocados, nuts & seeds, avocado/olive oil, goat’s cheese, olives are also key to maintaining health in this stressful time. Garlic & onions, as well as such spices as turmeric, curry, chili, cinnamon, ginger etc are powerful immune boosters, so add them where possible. Bone broth is a great base for cooking due to its gut support & mineral benefits.

  7. Supplements: Now is a really important time to take your supplements. Some important immune boosting ones during this time are vitamin C, D3, zinc, elderberry, oil of oregano, echinacea.

  8. Probiotics: With an increase in anti-bacterial wipes & sprays being used, it’s crucial we maintain healthy gut bacteria to keep our immunity strong. Probiotics in supplement and food form (kombucha, kimchi/sauerkraut, kefir sprouts/micro-greens) are key.

  9. Natural anti-bacterial alternatives: Doterra’s On Guard or other essential oil anti-bacterials & colloidal silver are great natural anti-bacterial/anti-viral sprays (and don’t wreck havoc with our friendly gut bacteria). Hand-washing obviously needs to take precedent during this time. Natural home cleaners are recommended over chemical alternatives.
